MJUMITA FACILITATED CONSTITUTION REVIEW OF HIMA – VIKIRU NETWORK

The Tanzania Community Forest Conservation Network (MJUMITA) facilitated the process of constitution review of environmental conservation network at Vidunda, Kidodi, Ruaha and
Ruhembe (HIMA – VIKIRU network) in Kilosa district from 28th to 30th July 2011. This network was established in 7th December, 2005. Members were encouraged by the founder of the network Menarda Emanuel Msagaya to engage on different activities that support conservation initiatives such as planting trees and bee keeping activities.
After the commencement of the meeting facilitator of the constitution review process from Mjumita Mr Somen Mteleka remind the participants that any good constitution should have the following qualities; participatory, not be biased to certain group, be consistent and fair and should be flexible and able to incorporate changes.
After that the chairperson of the meeting used to point one member after another to read the constitution and allow views from the member’s inoder to incorporate any agreed changes for the benefit of improving and make it more implementable.
Explaining to the meeting during the process of constitution review the chair person of the network Menarda Emanuel said “Our network constitution was too old some sections was real out dated to cope with recent challenges on climate change”. We thanks MJUMITA for initiative they have taken to support the entire facilitation of the reviewing our constitution since this is the basic foundation of our network that will guard us on different responsibilities/ activities she added.
